Bun in the Oven...

The latest photographic adventure took place in a field out in Franklin, TN at my Aunt Kelly's place. Laurel, Sarah and Chris, and I packed up the car with wild flowers, afghans, quilts, the perfect turquoise chair, the perfect little baby bump, a wardrobe, a few beers, and the hamster wheels in Laurel's and my brain in overdrive.

I couldn't have done it on my own. Laurel styled four amazing sets.

We started emailing a week before, so I had several shots planned out in my mind and I knew the feel that I wanted to capture.

Just a beautiful happy couple smiling, laughing, and basking in the glow of the joy of starting their family.

This was a first for all of us, so we just went with it, had fun, and had a "no pressure" attitude.

If it worked, it worked, and if it didn't, well it didn't.

Man, did it work.

Sarah glowed. Chris was such a great sport.

It all fell into place perfectly. And so did the photos. Thank y'all so much.

Was a wonderful recommendation from my friend Abby. She has amazing innate taste, so I knew it would be fabulous. She did not disappoint. We started with Bloody Mary's that had a kick like cocktail sauce. We filled up with shrimp and avocado taquitos, sweet potato fries, and a smoked salmon sandwich. The interior was just as appetizing in cream, gray, black, glass and gold. The chandeliers were encased in plastic cubes, sarcastically at home aside ornate gold framed mirrors and antique paintings. The bar was white marble against a backdrop clear glasses reflecting off more mirrors and framed by thick molding. Our bartender Will gave us a round on the house when we told him Abby sent us over. We asked him to choose a wine for Wynne and a brew for myself. Wynne got a glass of smooth summery white wine and I ended with a "huge voluminously hopped mutha of a pale ale" according to Dave. Indeed. Thank you Abby, Will, and Barmarche'.

my aesthetic obsession with collections, repetitions, packaging, and foods? I don't know, but I totally dig it. Most people walk into this market thinking about food and are not met with a rush of creativity, but not this girl. As if my camera wasn't an impulse away.

Thanks for the hospitality Hilton. The friend, not the hotel chain. You, the lighting, the leather loveseat, your art wall and tv antennae, clean sink, late night hummus and blue corn chips, and my two chairs turned sleeping sleigh rocked.

New York...Doors

Thought provoking. I wonder what is behind these doors. I wonder how soft the sheets are in the guest room of this lovely home, complete with their old Mercedes in their garage. With chipping, faded paint, I wonder what the second doors are protecting. Who was the first person to put their finger on a can of spray paint to deface the third doors? How did each person come up with their tag and what does it mean? How often do the people in the fourth doors water their Hydrangeas? Is the electric bill affected by leaving the fifth door's front light on all day? Thank you for the black, white, and red though, and the 8 slightly above the 0. And finally, my favorite. What color came fist in this peeling collage of an entrance way? Did you hate the blue, then try to chip it off then give up? You obviously paid attention to detail in the three colors you painted on the rest of the facade; I bet you even used painters tape. Could you not part with the messy, finger paint wave of blue? I sure couldn't.

These crates were filled with black beans. The black back drop and the organic feel is relaxing. You could definitely spice it up with any flavor bean you wanted though. Split peas would look great. These were rings made of old typewriter keys.

The opening weekend of the Chicago Antique Market was Memorial Day weekend. Some of the jewels in the suitcase were over 100 year Tibetan silver and fabulous. Of course nothing makes my heart flutter more than bright gypsy floral right now. Heaven in the embroidered rug far left.

Pretty in pink and the best girl these size eight shoes have carried. I'd like to introduce you to Darby Gray Tucker. She is the charming daughter of my friends Myles and Elysia Tucker. This wonderful game of dress up took place during a yard sale turned photo shoot. This surprisingly camera shy little four year old could entertain me for hours. I couldn't have planned it if I tried. Good times. Myles, Elysia, y'all are in trouble with this one.

Down the road from my house is Shelby Park. The Country Music Marathon ran through the park so we jumped at the chance to enjoy the beautiful weather and cheer the runners on.

It was a perfect opportunity to go home to {Mobile} Alabama for Easter to see my family. Off on Good Friday, so I'm heading out today at Noon. My mom went to the beach yesterday. And my dad will come down on Friday. So, to Orange Beach, here I come. Oh I can't wait to see them. They are my heart. My brothers should be down there too. It will be amazing to all be together. The last time was Christmas. And! I can't wait to eat so much seafood I bust my buttons! I hope it doesn't rain, a chance of which is forecasted, but I'm hoping to bring the sunshine with me. The weather is beautiful in Nashville right now. Can't wait for the drive! Windows cracked, wind in my hair, and love on the stereo! Happy Easter!!

2nd Stop Glendale, KY

Or as we liked to call it, Mayberry. We saw a sign for the Antique District and took the exit. We came upon the most picture perfect town complete with "The Whistle Stop Cafe"(Fried Green Tomotoes anyone?? Secret's in the sauce I hear.) and "Bennie's Barn Anitique Mall". The town is known for it's historic charm and antique shops all within walking distance of each other(http://www.historicglendale.com/). We didn't know that then, but we do now! We parked, and headed along the brick sidewalk with our heads spining left, right, up, down, so we didn't miss a thing. They had some wonderful collections to take in and great things to inpire. My only regret is not snagging those precious antique kitchen utencils with the chipped turquoise wooden handles. I can't believe I didn't even get a picture of them. But enough about that! Here are some beauties we did snap. We love you Glendale!

1st Stop: Senora, KY

Our first stop was Senora, KY. So we stopped for gas and saw a weathered wood sign "Antiques: 7/10 mi --->". Duh, we headed straight for it. 7/10 of a mile and one right turn, we reached a little piece of heaven. When we turned down Main Street, my heart fluttered. We headed into the only antique shop open. When we walked into "This Old Attic", three grampa farmers were warming themselves by the wood burning furnace. Gale, the shop owner introduced himself and showed us around. Ugh, he was so cute! I bought a charming embroidered pillow, a salt and pepper set-complete with three little shakers and tray, some tobacco spear's(I'll explain later), and a weathered blue bucket. Laurel, my Skipper as we lovingly named her, got a perfect turquoise chair and three turquoise metal bowls. Thanks Gale, we love you!

So! Second Hand Sally is taking it's Maiden Voyage!!!

Lindsay here! Laurel and I are packing and heading to Louisville, KY tomorrow. We decided in the beginning of the year that would would go on treasure hunting road trips. Yes, this is just the first of many. I started SHS, because of my love for all things Vintage. The inventory is growing daily and the Etsy shop is soon to be announced.
